I'm an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker with more than 20 years experience working with children, young people, adults and families in government and non-government organisations in Australia and Guatemala. Much of my therapeutic experience has involved supporting people who have experienced trauma in the context of war, family violence and abuse (including interpersonal violence and sexual assault).
I love to engage with people’s current knowledge, strength and creativity, as well as hearing their stories and helping them find new ways to navigate through their difficulties.
I have worked with individuals who are victims of crime and supported them through criminal court proceedings, families who are involved in family court proceedings and children and carers who are engaged in the child protection systems. I utilise a combination of strengths-based therapies including solution-focused therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, trauma-focused cognitive behavioural therapy, narrative therapy and play and art based therapies. I am trained in the use of Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR).
I also provide social work supervision and am available to provide training and consultation.
I can provide counselling in English or Spanish.
